No bike in the MotoGP series enjoyed the same level of success as the Fiat Yamaha YZR-M1 during the 2009 seasons. Out of the 17 races, only once did Valentino Rossi or teammate Jorge Lorzeno not finish on the podium. With a combined 10 wins, they finished 1st and 2nd in the standings respectively. The YXR-M1 was revised from the 2008 model to better cope with the spec tires being used in the series. With a lower center of gravity, reduced fuel consumption and great engine power all helped dominate the 2009 MotoGP season.
